Aardman Teams Up With Acamar for Bing Baking!

July 14, 2016

If your little lambs love the CBeebies character Bing they’ll be excited to hear that we’ve teamed up with Acamar, creators of the show, to bring you a brilliant new app that invites children into Bing's kitchen for some baking fun!

The app is available to download now from the App Store and will also be coming to Google Play and Amazon on 11th August. In the game, children join Bing and his friendly carer Flop in some baking activities, learning useful skills along the way. The game encourages hand-eye co-ordination as your little one plays with realistic 'digital dough', using their rolling pin or hands to squish and roll the mixture in cookies.

Children can then get creative, choosing from a selection of cookie cutters and decorations to make their treats extra special. Using the helpful Chicky Timer, children learn basic time concepts - they'll need to keep an eye on Chicky Timer to make sure their treats don't get ruined!

When the biscuits are ready and decorated with icing, sprinkles, chocolate drops and fruit, you can take a picture of Bing and Flop before munching on the delicious creations.

With its colourful setting and familar scenarios, the app offers children another way to experience Bing's world, a place that celebrates the noisy, joyful and fun reality of family life. Just as with the TV show, children learn through their baking successes and failures (perhaps they'll leave their biscuits in the oven a little too long!) that sometimes things don't always go to plan, but that's OK. As Flop says, 'Never mind Bing, it's no big thing!"

The app is £2.99 and is currently avaible to download at iTunes.

Exciting news for children learning English - Aardman has teamed up with the British Council for a second Learning Time with Timmy app, featuring new games, challenges and rewards to make learning English fun!

Learning Time with Timmy 2 is designed to help non-native English speakers aged 6 and under develop their language skills. It’s also suitable for younger children with English as a first language aged 4 and under as it supports pre-school literacy and number skills. Children join their favourite characters from Timmy Time to learn new words and phrases, as well as having fun identifying and sorting objects.

A helpful and encouraging audio guide leads young lanuage learners through the games and challenges and there are even rewards along the way, including new themed stickers and video clips!

With no in-app purchases or adverts, Learning Time with Timmy 2 provides a safe environment for children to have fun while learning English and practising their colours and numbers.

Shaun in the City Exhibition Arrives in London

September 24, 2015

The Shaun in the City flock has arrrived in London's Covent Garden for one last round up before a grand auction on the 8th October! The London exhibition takes place from 24th-27th September and offers a final chance to see all 120 Shaun in the City sculptures before they go under the hammer.

The sculptures will be displayed in the famous Covent Garden Piazza, in the heart of London's bustling West End, giving tourists and passers-by an eye-catching display of all the beautifully designed Shauns from the London and Bristol trails which took place in the Spring and Summer. You'll be able to tick off the Shauns you may have missed on the trail, casting your eyes over creations from the likes of Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park, supermodel David Gandy and fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes.

Celebrity auctioneer Tim Wonnacott will be visiting the exhibition on 25th September, so if you're in the market for bidding on a Shaun you'll be able to get some expert advice on the sculptures. At the end of their London stay, the colourful Shauns will be transported back to Bristol where they'll be stored until an exciting auction - hosted by Tim - which will raise funds for Wallace & Gromit's Children's Charity and The Grand Appeal.

Director of Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation, Nicola Masters said: “It's been a wonderful summer for Shaun and our Covent Garden exhibition represents the last chance for the public to see all 120 sculptures from our London and Bristol trails before they go to auction in October.

"We're delighted to have had the support of so many designers and sponsors in bringing this fabulous flock to the city’s streets for so many thousands of people to enjoy. We really hope as many people as possible will head to Covent Garden to see our Shauns this weekend. With London Fashion Week over, a sheep walk should provide the perfect substitute to the cat walk."

You can find out more details about the London exhibition and charity auction on the Shaun in the City website.

Morph Comes To CBBC!

May 21, 2015

If your little one is a fan of one of Aardman's earliest creations - Morph - we have some great news!  After the huge success of Morph's comeback online you'll be able to watch his adventures on CBBC when they are broadcast on the channel in June!

It's been over 15 years since Morph graced TV screens. The popular terracotta clay figure was created way back in 1977, making his first appearance on the BBC children's art programme 'Take Hart', alongside artist and presenter Tony Hart. It wasn't until a kickstarter campaign was launched in the autumn of 2013 that the first steps were taken in bringing Morph back into the public eye. The campaign was a huge success, raising over £110,000 to fund 15 new one-minute episodes, which have been warmly received by Morph fans both old and new.

If you missed them online, or you'd like to remind yourself what Morph gets up to in the new adventures - which feature storyline ideas by Morph's Kickstarter backers - you can catch him and other favourite characters from the original show on the CBBC channel next month.

Morph also has his own website where you can find out more about the show, its  history and characters, as well as a Facebook page and YouTube channel where you can watch remastered classic clips.

Shaun's London Trail Extended!

May 15, 2015

Great news if you haven't yet managed to get to the London leg of the Shaun in the City trail! Due to popular demand, the trail has been extended until Sunday 31st May!

If you live in the UK this means you now have the added bonus of being able to take part in the trail over the May half term holiday, the perfect opportunity for you and your little lambs to seek out the 50 Shauns dotted around the capital! The trail has been a huge success so far, with hundreds of thousands of people visiting the sculptures since they arrived in London back in March. Fans from as far afield as Finland, Australia and the USA have taken part, with many enhancing their experience by using the official Sheep Spotter app - it's been downloaded over 25,000 times to date!

Shaun spotters have shared some fantastic selfies and photos on Facebook and Twitter, as well as personal stories connected to the trail. So it was a bit of a 'no brainer' to extend the trail, as Nicola Masters, director of Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity, explains: “We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the popularity of our Shaun in the City trail in London. Visitors have come from all over the capital, the UK and indeed the world just to see our sculptures, and seeing their photos on social media and hearing how much they have enjoyed the trail has been just fantastic.

“More and more enquiries were coming in every day as to whether the sculptures could stay on display for longer, and we knew we had to do everything we could to make it happen. I am delighted to be able to announce that the trail has been extended for an extra week, giving even more visitors the opportunity to take part in their very own Shaun hunt.”

A small number of the sculptures may be relocated between Monday 25th May and Sunday 31st May. Keep an eye on the Shaun in the City Facebook page for more info. You can also find all the info you need to plan you sheep spotting adventure on the Shaun in the City website.

After the success of Shaun the Sheep The Movie, it has been announced that STUDIOCANAL and Aardman will partner up again to release “Early Man”, a brand new pre-historic adventure by BAFTA and academy-award winner, Nick Park, the creator of Wallace & Gromit!

Nick Park

Fans of Aardman characters such as Timmy, Shaun and Wallace & Gromit can look forward to meeting a brand new character in the film, set at the dawn of time when dinosaurs and woolly mammoths roamed the Earth! This new character is a plucky caveman who unites his tribe against a mighty enemy and saves the day.

Created in Aardman’s class stop-motion style, this new film will take audiences into an exciting prehistoric world and unleash an unforgettable cast of hilarious new characters.

Nick Park will be joined by accomplished screenwriters Mark Burton and John O’Farrell to bring this prehistoric adventure to life.

Nick Park said “I’m very excited to be making this film with such great partners – STUDIOCANAL and BFI.  And with the support of the incredible team at Aardman – bringing this inept bunch of cavemen to life is going to be a hilarious adventure!"

Look out for more Early Man updates coming soon!

Your Guide To Shaun in the City

March 26, 2015

Central London saw some interesting traffic on its roads this week as a series of giant Shauns arrived in the city - on a tractor! They were being deposited at key locations around the city for the Shaun in the City Trail, which opens to the public on Saturday 28th March.

Shaun in the City

To help you get the very most of your Shaun spotting experience, our friends at have put together a handy little guide that gives you all the info you need to have a fantastic day out!

The Trail

50 Shauns will line the streets of London for 2 months starting this Saturday, 28th March! There will then be another 70 Shauns visiting Bristol from the 6th of July, making 120 Shauns to find in total!

London: 28th March – 25th May (50 statues)

Bristol: 6th July – 31st August (70 statues)

After both trails have ended, you’ll have the opportunity to see all 120 statues together at a special exhibition in London and Bristol. Keep an eye on the Shaun in the City website for more information.

How Do I Find Shaun? Maps & App

The Shaun in the City “Sheep Spotter” app is available on the Google Play and iTunes stores for £1.49, with all proceeds going to Wallace & Gromit’s Childrens’ Charity. The app covers both the London and Bristol trails and allows you to find and tick off all the Shauns as you go along! There are also lots of fun achievements to unlock and a stats board that will tell you how fellow Shaun spotters are doing!

Maps will also be available from locations around London, plus as a download from the Shaun and the City website.

Are all the Shauns within walking distance?

Some of the Shaun sculptures are accessible on foot – take a look at the map or download the app for details of distances, times the trails take to complete (the app even measures how far you’ve walked for fitness!), and postcode details. The sculptures can also be accessed by public transport – visit to help plan your route!

Can I buy merchandise?

You can buy official merchandise in the Shaun in the City online shop (new products will be added throughout the trail) or if you’re on the London trail, you’ll find an array of goodies at the baa-rilliant barrow in Covent Garden, which is open 10am to 6pm, 7 days a week.

Anything else?

Don’t forget to visit the brand new Shaun in the City website and social media channels, which will give you lots more information on the trail of 2 cities – happy Shaun hunting!

Timmy Trail Comes to Kew Gardens This Easter

March 11, 2015

If you're looking for fun things to do with your family this Easter, how about getting outdoors and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Kew Gardens, just outside London? The famous gardens will be hosting Shaun the Sheep activities over the Easter period, including a special Timmy's Trail, meeting Timmy's friends along the way.

The trail takes in some of Kew's prettiest spring flowers and you'll be able to have your photo taken with Timmy's friends, sharing them on Twitter by tagging #shaunatkew. Along the way you can also stop off at the Princess of Wales Conservatory, where you'll find out how chocolate is made, and visit the Palm House where you'll see the tree that chocolate comes from. If you visit the gardens on 5th April you'll also be able to take part in an Easter Egg hunt - track down three tokens from around the Gardens and then find the Easter Bunny who will reward you with a Divine chocolate egg.

As well as the Timmy Trail, there are other Shaun the Sheep events to enjoy over the spring break at Kew. Visit Shaun's Madcap Meadow where you can enter the marquee for some farmyard games - have a go at welly wanging or try the sheep hopper maze, where you can try bouncing your way around a hay bale maze. There will even be a vegetable orchestra in attendance, while outside the marquee you can try out your physical prowess in Bitzer's sheepdog trials, helping Bitzer to herd, bounce and roll Shirley back into her pen.

For something a little more sedate, head to the face painting area where your little one can be transformed into their favourite character from Shaun the Sheep.

Entry to Kew Gardens is free for children under 16 and if you book by 15th March, adults can save 20% on their tickets by entering "EASTER2015" at the checkout. Find out full details and book your tickets here.

See Yabba and her friends at WWT centres this February half term!

February 08, 2012

Over the February half term period, visitors will have the chance hand-feed ducks like Timmy's friend Yabba at several Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) centres across the UK.

Like Yabba, these ducks love to swim, quack a lot, and splash about in the puddles!

At WWT London, the friendly Indian runner ducks and Khaki Campbells can be fed by hand in the Duck Tales enclosure, or at WWT Slimbridge, Yabba’s Hawaiian cousins, the nenes will also follow you around the grounds asking for food.

With a medley of half term activities, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy. From meeting crocodiles, snakes, turtles and lizards at Reptiles Undercover!, London Wetland Centre, to developing your artistic skills with Ronald Swanwick at Slimbridge (Gloucestershire). Washington (Tyne & Wear) will be hosting a range of activities where you can build a bug hotel or bird box, Arundel (East Sussex) invites the adventurous to join them on a geo-cache trail using GPS co-ordinates on your smart phone, or alternatively you could just enjoy the swan spectacular as peak numbers of whooper swans will be residing at Martin Mere (Lancashire).

To find out more about these events, visit the WWT website

Timmy's Colouring Competition Winner is Announced!

January 25, 2012

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) received hundreds of entries from all over the UK for their Timmy Time colouring competition held at Christmas.

There were so many brilliant entries that the judges had a difficult time choosing a winner, but they finally decided on Oscar, who is aged 7 and from Terrace Calstock.  You can see his brilliant entry below – well done Oscar!

Oscar wins a very special family sleepover at a Holiday Inn – plus copies of Timmy’s Snowy Fun on DVD and the Timmy and the Snow Monster book. Regional winners from each centre also received copies of the DVD and book.

Well done to everyone that entered the competition!  If you enjoyed your time at a WWT centre, seeing all the different colourful ducks and want to do more – here’s how you can:

Help a duck like Yabba and adopt a mallard!

If you want to help some of Yabba’s friends, why not adopt a mallard duck? Although their quack and fluffy ducklings are a familiar site in Britain’s waters, they have suffered such a drop in numbers that they have now been added to the amber list for conservationists. This means that without careful monitoring, these lovely ducks could begin to disappear from our parks and lakes.

Adopting a mallard means that WWT can continue to help protect these birds. What’s more, they make ideal last minute presents, such as Easter or birthday gifts, as adopters will receive a cuddly soft toy, complimentary ticket, reusable jute bag, newsletter twice a year, adoption certificate, fact sheet, and a bookmark. To find out more, visit

Christmas Timmy Fun With the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust!

December 02, 2011

Timmy, Yabba and their friends have teamed up with Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust to celebrate the premiere of Timmy’s Christmas Surprise on CBeebies.

Families are in for a treat at WWT’s nine wetland centres across the UK with a full programme of events over the festive season, including husky sleigh rides, Christmas craft sessions – and a Timmy Time Christmas Colouring Competition!

A very special family sleepover at a Holiday Inn is up for grabs for one lucky winner – plus copies of Timmy’s Snowy Fun on DVD and the Timmy and the Snow Monster book.

For your chance to win, pick up a colouring sheet from your local Wetland Centre or download it from their website. The most creative colouring sheet will win. Good luck!

By visiting a WWT centre this Christmas, you are directly supporting WWT’s conservation work to protect the habitats that are so important to the wildlife that depends on them.

Timmy's Top Ten Tips for starting Nursery

July 02, 2010

Hold Timmy’s hand through those first few days at nursery….

Starting nursery or pre-school is a really important first step for your little one and, although daunting at first, will eventually help them to become more flexible, adaptable and independent. There are lots of things you can do to help them to feel more comfortable. Why not try a few of these top tips prepared for Timmy Time by the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

Timmy’s Top Ten Tips:

To help your little ones settle in:

1. Meet your child’s ‘key person’. This carer is assigned to take extra care of your little one throughout their time at pre-school – so get to know them and share any important information about your child.

2. Visit your pre-school or nursery in advance. Point out where the cloakroom, toilet and fun play areas are so they become more familiar with their new surroundings before their first full day.

3. Practice new tasks, like hanging up their coat and putting away toys.Teaching your child these simple skills will help them settle in more quickly.

To help you when leaving your child:

4. Be cheerful and positive and try not to stress. If you look happy and relaxed, your child is more likely to be too.

5. Don’t rush off. Make sure your child has enough time to say goodbye. Instead of saying goodbye say something more positive such as “I’ll be back after you’ve had your lunch”. What ever arrangements you make, keep to them.

6. If your child cries try not to worry. Their key person will have lots of tricks to settle them down when you have gone.

7. Talk to them about their experiences and if you have any concerns  talk to their ‘key person’.

To help you cope with the separation:

8. Make a plan of your own for their first week, time for you to do chores, hobbies or just relax!

9. Get to know other parents. They are likely to be going through the same emotions and can offer mutual support.

10. Piece of mind – ask if you can make a quick call in the afternoon to check how your child is coping and keep well informed about your nursery. The more you know, the more confident you will feel.
